In my pinterest/DIY blog perusing I have seen a ton of projects that incorporated plastic animals. So one day (like a year ago) I walked into Dollar Tree and saw a bunch of plastic animals. I picked them up thinking I would do something with them.
Between that time and me finishing this project I spray painted the animals in the blistering cold–dumb idea they got weird and sticky and then I let them be until about 2 weeks ago when I sanded them as best as I could and re-sprayed them. Then me and my mom sawed them in half with some old rusty saws from her garage. I let them sit for a few more
weeks days and I picked up a decorative wood thing from the craft store. I slapped a couple of layers of gray paint on it and hammered a thingy onto it so that I could hang it to the wall.
A couple days later, I glued the half animals onto it in a random order and let it dry. Once it was dry I ran out to the living room to show it off to my bf and then I got lazy and let it sit in the living room for about two weeks. I finally hung it up yesterday. So after more than 380something days–give or take– I finally have a cool piece of art that’s totally unique and quirky and finished and hanging on my wall. So now, in addition to my collection of real, live animals–4 snakes, 1 frog, 2 toads, 1 fish–I officially have 7 more pets now, right? Yay!

Life has been busier than ever. Working two jobs and trying to keep up with everything else on my calendar has basically taken over my life. I have been trying to continue to do things that make me happy despite my lack of time, and one of my favorite things is making stuff.
So while I was perusing the craft store (which I try to limit myself from entering for fear of spending my whole paycheck) I saw these luscious rock beads and they were on sale so I really couldn’t turn them down. I actually ended up buying two strands which should really illustrate my lack of self control in the craft store.
I loved the beads in the arrangement they were in on the strand at the store so I kept them in the same order and added some white pearly beads that I already had.
If I am being honest, it is a little bit heavy because of the stones but I love it so much that it really doesn’t matter to me, hahaha.
I made another necklace with the other strand I bought but I don’t like it all that much, so I need to rethink what I do with it. In the mean time I am in love with this unique piece and I love it even more because I made it with my own two hands!
At the beginning of the summer I bought this very basic pair of sandals from Target because I thought they would go with anything. As it turns out, I didn’t like the way they looked so I never wore them. I’ve seen a ton sandal embellishment tutorials this summer (I especially love this one & this one) so I don’t know why it took me until the end of the summer to realize I should do one myself. I got some gem-looking things from the craft store and glued them on.
I wish I would have done it sooner because now they are the only shoes I want to wear!
